Religious Education

Religious Education is the core subject in the curriculum and influences all that we teach and enables us to develop the whole person.

Through Religious Education teaching and learning, we aim to:

  • Provide each child with the opportunity to develop their relationship with God.
  • Promote knowledge and understanding of Catholic faith and life.
  • Develop awareness and understanding of the impact of faith upon our daily lives.
  • Foster attitudes of respect towards all who live in our society.

At St Lewis' we follow the Come and See programme of Religious Education in Key Stage Two and have recently implemented To Know You More Clearly Religious Education Directory in Early Years and Key Stage One. The aims of these programmes is to explore the religious dimensions of questions about life, dignity and purpose through scripture within the Catholic tradition.

Mission and Values at St Lewis'

Prayer for Peace

We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons. We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow, that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them. We pray for those with power over war or peace, for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions.

Amen.

In these unsettling times the benefits of prayer and meditation on well-being are manifold. So we are pleased to signpost a project undertaken by The Catholic Children’s Society and World Community of Christian Meditation, to introduce meditation to children.
